Prof. Saji Gopinath
Dr. Saji Gopinath is a Professor in the area of Operations Management at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode. He was associated with IIM Kozhikode ever since its inception in 1997. During 2009-2011, Dr. Gopinath held the position of Director of T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) Manipal, one of the top 15 Business schools in the country.
Dr. Gopinath graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Kerala University and did his M.Tech and Ph.D in the area of Management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science at Bangalore. He received Gold Medals from Indian Institute of Science and College of Engineering Trivandrum for scholastic achievements.
He started his career with Larsen & Toubro Ltd and later worked with Oil and Natural Gas Commission. Before joining IIM, he was working with National Institute of Technology (Regional Engineering College) Calicut as faculty in the area of Management for 8 years. He was associated with IIM since its inception in 1997 and was the founder Chairman of the Asia's first Synchronous e-Learning Programme in Executive Management Education. He also serves as visiting faculty to a few Universities in Australasia, Europe and Africa and also function as the member of Academic Senate of U21 Global, the world’s biggest and most reputed on-line University promoted by top Universities in the world. He also consults many corporate, PSUs and Govt. in the area of Operations Excellence, Business Strategy and Sustainable Development.
Dr. Gopinath is very active in Social Development Projects in the region. The large scale projects conceived by him in the area of AgriBusiness (SUBICSHA), Handloom (KRITHIKA & THANIMA), Khadi (KUPPADAM), Education (PRISM) etc. are in various stages of implementation with the financial assistance of Govt. of India/ Kerala. Of these, the project SUBICSHA, an innovative rural supply chain project of developing microenterprises, had bagged the national award for the best integrated project in NGO sector constituted by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India.
Dr. Gopinath has conducted several Management Development Programmes in the area of Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Project Management and Operations Management for the benefit of officers of major corporates like TATA Tea, Canara Bank, Indian Airlines, Larsen & Toubro, Power Grid Corporation of India, SIDBI, KINFRA, MILMA, KSIDC etc.
The areas of research interest include Supply Chain Management, IT-Enabled Business and Institution Building.
Prof. Rupesh Kumar Pati
Dr. Rupesh Kumar Pati is a Faculty in the area of Operations Management and Quantitative Methods at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK). He graduated in Mechanical Engineering and did his M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management. He received Gold Medal from Indian School of Mines during his M.Tech programme. He received doctorate in the area of Supply Chain Management from Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
He started his professional career with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Sriharikota as a Scientist before joining IIMK. He has published research papers in International and national journals of repute such as Omega: International Journal of Management Science, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Value Chain Management, International Journal of Business Process Management, International Journal of Environment and Waste Management, Productivity etc. Besides authoring for journals he has also presented papers in National and International Conferences. His academic interests include the areas of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Operations Research, Project Management, Service operations management.
